Mann Oilfield Production Overview, Magway Division, Central Myanmar

MPRL E&P Pte Ltd. an independent exploration & production company operates the Mann Field, onshore oil and gas field in the Central Myanmar Basin.. (Approx: Latitude N 20ֹ 7' and Longitude E 94ֹ 50'), covering about 4,000 acres on a 20,000-acre contract area in the central basin about 350 miles north of Yangon.

The Myanmar National Oil Company (Myanma Oil & Gas Enterprise – MOGE) under a Performance Compensation Contract (PCC).  Mann Field was discovered in 1970 and reached peak production of 24,000 bpd in 1979. There are currently 663 Wells in the field, of which 328 are producing and the remaining are shut- in. API of the oil 36.5°

3D Seismic was acquired over the entire contract area in 1998. Interpretation of 3D data has resulted in numerous leads or prospects identified to date. There is extensive exploration potential on the flanks of the structure including untested deeper horizons (8000 ft). Current production zone is in stacked sandstones at 2,200-7,000 ft.  The length and width of the producing area is about 10 miles (16 km) and 1 mile (1.6 km) respectively.

Based on data from the current producing formation sands, and existing production operations, remaining recoverable reserves are calculated at 10.7 million barrels. Average porosity of the field is 18% with an average permeability of 10-250 md, and the gas gravity is 0.65.

Mann field production peaked at 24,000 b/d in 1979. Crude oil is shipped by pipeline to the Thanbayagan refinery 15 km to the south, one of three refineries in the country. The refinery has capacity to run as much as 10,000 b/d of Mann crude and could take up to 25,000 b/d with refurbishment, MPRL said.

A small volume of produced gas is burned in a turbine near the field to supply power for central Myanmar. Gas demand exceeds supply. MOGE buys all hydrocarbons at the wellhead.
